The Solar Eclipse in Libra Newsletterđ
Happy Solar Eclipse, witches!
Itâs officially The Season of the Witch, and we have an astrology-packed month ahead. IDK about you, but Iâve been sensing the approach of todayâs Solar Eclipse in Libra for a while (which, unfortunately, includes insomnia. Iâve come to accept that itâs just part of my eclipse process!) On the plus side, that means Iâm up & at âem early: Itâs a little after 8 AM and Iâve already washed my face, brushed my teeth and cleaned the entire kitchen (which never happens prior to 9:30 for this night owl.) Hopefully, your Eclipse window has been as productive as mine (though for your sake, I hope more restful! A la Buddy the Elf, I probably got a solid 45 minutes of shut-eye â but in lieu of sleep, I did score some rad as hell breakthroughs over the early hours of the morning.) Grab a mug of mulled cider (or a frothy PSL, or whatever fall bev floats your boat this early) and read on for this moon cycleâs astrology breakdown, starting with todayâs high-energy eclipse.
Oh, and check out my podcast! Every Wednesday, Iâve been recorded a mid-week check-in to break down the astrology of that week. The new episode drops today! And, if youâre a paid subscriber to my newsletter, did you check out my latest post? Itâs a playful breakdown of Katie Perryâs natal astrology (and there are no October Tarotscopes, unfortunately, as I had a nasty bout of illness this month which interfered with my creative time this week. Iâll send some out mid-month for the Full Moon!)
Wednesday, October 2nd. Today is the Solar Eclipse at 10 degrees of Libra, conjunct Mercury and the Moonâs South Node. A supercharged New Moon â which kicks-off a subsequent four-week period, known as a moon cycle or a lunar âmonthâ -- Solar Eclipses initiate the beginning of a larger cycle, their impact usually reverberating throughout the following six months (and it takes that long to process, integrate and sit with their wisdom.) Eclipses are not an energy that we can take charge of or plan rituals around â instead, the best way to engage with them is to commit to emotional presence, absolving ourselves of feeling the need to do something or act on the realizations they bring (which â since this one is loosely square Mars â might bring frustration, forcing a sense of wanting to mobilize but not being able to do so effectively or in the desired way.) Typically, Solar Eclipses bring important revelations or reveals which cue a new beginning â in partnership-oriented Libra, todayâs Solar Eclipse is a relationship threshold, cueing definitive endings and beginnings within friendships, romance dynamics and business or creative collaborations. Pay attention to what the Eclipse develops within or illuminates about your relationships (with Mercury involved, emphasis is placed on friendship and platonic dynamics or casual peer relationships â coworkers, roommates, etc.) Â Because this Eclipse features such a close conjunction to Mercury, itâs birthing a new perspective, mindset or way of thinking (which we might not fully realize or be able to articulate until April, but itâs sparking now.) The Solar Eclipseâs conjunction to the South Node is interesting, illuminating something about your backstory, the origin tale of a significant individual or the formative influences of an unfolding situation (you may realize something about a past event or become aware of how much a historical moment shaped you â either because of a newly-introduced plot twist, or simply an enhanced ability to parse it with accuracy.) While it takes time to integrate the wisdom fully, notice if your mind wanders to former circumstances or someone from the past slides into your DMs today â with Mercury emphasized, itâs likely that dialogue or a piece of news cues these deep insights and moments of rad clarity which develop over the next six months. The Solar Eclipse square Mars is productive and distinctive, and as the Warrior God prepares to enter the shadow zone of his imminent retrograde* on October 7th, momentum is building toward something developed further over the course of winter (pay attention to developing lust/crush scenarios, acrimony, opportunity and ambition instigated or perceived around the 48 hours of the Eclipse. If someone talks about action or seems to affirm a skillset or passion you harbor, itâs worth taking seriously and generally noticing where momentum seems to be building organically.) Despite all the cool things happening, this Eclipse window is a little bit of a conflict instigator â with the moon, sun and Mercury aligned, everyone is feeling locked into and identified with their emotions and opinions (and with this stellium square Mars, people are more willing to fight for what they feel and believe â if channeled productive, itâs fabulous for courage, resolve and taking the initiative, but if mis-handled, itâs petty, turbulent and aggressive.) But any conflict brewing or activated now is significant and productive, serving as a catalyst for aligned transformation within our relationships.
*Mars is retrograde from December 6th to February 25th, spending the remainder of fall in the shadow zone.
Friday, October 4th. Venus in Scorpio trines Saturn in Pisces today, a supportive transit for softening self-doubt and helping us approach matters weâre usually insecure about with a breezy, level-headed sensibility (and â while astrology doesnât predict outcomes â itâs a time where things tend to flow, especially regarding Saturnian themes â i.e. taxes, dental work, and dealings with business, bureaucracy, appointments, data and metrics.) It favors actions taken toward enhanced stability, sensuality or abundance â think tweaking a skincare routine to accommodate the changing weather or augmenting a savings account via deliberate, well-paced efforts â and in fashion and beauty today, err on the side of timeless to feel your best (A red lip? A pleated tennis skirt? Hoop earrings with denim? Yes.) Itâs also a supportive transit for tending to our relationships, helping us traverse dating dilemmas or friendship conflicts with an unusual amount of poise and wise discernment (and in intimate relationships, we can more easily spot those timeless, tried-&-true bonds which have seen us through the years and â while perhaps understated and absent from our Instagram â theyâre refreshingly rock-solid.) Â
Sunday, October 6th. Mercury in Libra squares Mars in Cancer, a time where communication and commentary can quickly assume an inflammatory vibe (Mercury in Libra is generally diplomatic but in a tense square to the Warrior God â especially in passive-aggressive Cancer â an undertone of snark can send a relationship into an uneasy truce, or a seemingly friendly comment harbors the distinct echo of an insult.) More positively, Mars is courageous and actionable â if something potentially inflammatory needs to be said or an injustice must be identified, this is a transit which can instigate those necessary conversations â but itâs worth considering whether every annoyance or irritant is worth responding to (and if you decide to engage, prepare appropriately for eruptive backlash.) Because this transit can foster violent, aggressive forms of communication, how we choose to respond to conflict is also crucial, as Mars in Cancer enhances our awareness of our own vulnerability (sometimes leading to premature defensiveness or acts of passive-aggression.) It can also instigate conflicts within friendships and even traffic (Mars square Mercury is a distinct catalyst for road rage) but ideally, we can channel Mercury in Libraâs love of beauty and harmony into non-violent forms of communication, benefitting from the productive, outspoken nature of this transit to deliver energizing and inspiring monologs (Mars) which affect change and authentically reflect our values (Mercury in Libra.)
Tuesday, October 8th. The vibe of the day is supercharged by three exact transits: Firstly, Venus trines Mars today, a gentle catalyst for renewed creativity, artistry, sensuality, flirtation, chemistry, romance, play and self-love. Itâs a time where we feel called to center what feels good (and our pleasure instincts are accentuated, reinvigorating our lust for life and an overarching sense of excitement and optimism) and itâs highly supportive of the conception of new relationships, reviving chemistry or bringing healing and reconciliation into frayed bonds (and helpfully, facilitating any reparations deemed necessary by fallout from Mercury square Mars.) Mercury in Libra also trines Jupiter in Gemini today as The Messenger God leaves a tense square with Mars but locks into an Opposition with Chiron. Mercury trine Jupiter (especially for air signs) is great for spacious, expansive dialogue and supports travel, learning and commerce. We can trust our creative, relationship and business instincts during this transit, and itâs a time where we can anticipate movement and development within these realms. Itâs also great for negotiations, forming alliances, solidifying or developing rapport, new ideas or inspiration breezing in, and coming up with on-the-fly solutions (or conjuring the perfect words and delivering them eloquently.) Itâs also a good time to tweak the tone of our inner voice, implementing the power of affirmations or positive thinking. But Mercury Opposite Chiron introduces complexity, illuminating a wounded mindset or a way of thinking that perpetuates or internalizes a former brush with adversity. Regardless of what instigates this â and because itâs an opposition, the stimulant is likely an environmental trigger or conflict within a relationship â the invitation of Mercury Opposite Chiron is always to recalibrate a mindset, shake off an old perspective and embrace an empowering perspective flip. It might not be a fun transit but with all the snazzy and fortifying astro in play, we can more easily hack the benefits without dwelling on the wounded mindset itself.
Wednesday, October 9th. Jupiter turns retrograde at 21 degrees of Gemini and while the transit itself isnât necessarily significant (as Jupiter spends about four months of the year in retrograde) the two days before the retrograde (and the first few days of the transit) have an emphasized Jupiter vibe â we started feeling this on Monday and it remains with us through Friday. An enhanced Jupiter vibe is always beneficial, but even more so when the planet of luck and largesse stations retrograde while actively trine Mercury (intensifying the impact of this transit which â while exact yesterday â weâre still feeling quite strongly.) The 48 hours of Jupiter turning retrograde in Gemini â i.e., Tuesday to Thursday -- are excellent for breezy dialogue, flowy inspiration, enhanced feelings of rapport and interpersonal connection, buzzy relationship synergy and expansive, uplifting conversations. Itâs a time where luck or developments can manifest quickly, circumstances suddenly shifting in our favor, but itâs also a time where mutable signs (i.e. Pisceans, Geminis, Virgos and Sagittarians) can be inclined to take things to excess (or may notice a slightly inflated ego, leading them to under-estimate other people or circumstances and over-estimate themselves or their resources.) For air signs in particular, though, itâs innately lucky and prosperous (grab a green aventurine and hit the casino or scratch a lottery ticket. You might also find yourself at the ârightâ place at the ârightâ time or stumbling into connections or alliances which later prove massively beneficial.) On the flip side, Jupiter retrograde can amplify or inflate circumstances already in play â with Plutonic energy strong in the collective RN, this could translate as heightened fanaticism, or enhanced religious/political fervor.
Friday, October 11th. Pluto stations direct in Capricorn, where the Underworld God has been hanging out at the anaretic degree since September 2nd. Pluto will re-enter Aquarius for the long-haul transit (until 2044) on November 19th, but for the next five weeks, many of us will experience opportunities to revisit and integrate paradigm shifts initiated from 2008 onward (which â for those in their late twenties, like me â might not feel super useful, since we were pre-pubescent when this transit occurred.) At the sociopolitical level, Plutoâs brief return to Capricorn is exposing old systems and traditions â pay attention to the headlines and breaking news which emerge mid-week and over the weekend, as itâs all setting us up for the Underworld Godâs long-term transition into Aquarius on November 19th. In your microcosm, circle this date and note it as extra Plutonic â existential, weighty realizations or a sense of looming unease could be unpleasant side effects but on the plus side, lean into the intensity for rad transformations, dramatic self-empowerment stunts and excavating deep truths.
Saturday, October 12th. Jupiter sextiles Chiron today, an expansive and uplifting transit which facilitates an optimistic perspective flip or breakthrough dialogue (especially for those with a planet around 21 degrees of an air or fire sign.)
Sunday, October 13th. Mercury in Libra squares Pluto at the anaretic degree of Capricorn hours before the Messenger God enters Scorpio. Mercury square Pluto is always a muckraker â this close to election day, pay close attention to news headlines and breaking developments, which may reveal shady dealings or unearth hidden or concealed data â and at the individual level, this transit morphs a perspective or opinion, or develops/tests agreements or relationships and incites passionate, intense dialogue. Mercury square Pluto transforms and evolves relationships, drawing resentments and underlying information forward to be dealt with and transmuted, and everyone self-expresses with more intensity today (which, with both planets in leadership-oriented cardinal signs, can lead to power-plays or illuminate underlying control dynamics.) Even surface-level interactions could quickly take an intense turn (and everyone is more easily activated today, leading to edgy encounters or enhanced snark), but the invitation of this transit is to acquaint ourselves with the hidden depths of our own psychology. Exercises like tapping/EFT, hypnosis or journaling can facilitate this process but during this transit, you likely wonât need help â it confronts us with a shadowy aspect of our psyche and if we show up authentically, weâre rewarded with gritty, uncomfortable conversations or reveals which give way to deeply healing dialogue or empowering perspectives. Mercury in Scorpio until early November is good for deep, transformative dialogue and supports investigative pursuits, unflinching self-analysis, pattern recognition, empowering revelations and the intensely singular focus which leads to rabbit hole descents, superhuman task accomplishment and breakthroughs within research. The downside? This level of mental intensity is unpleasant if channeled unproductively into destructive fixations â i.e. obsessing over an ex or social media stalking a frenemy. It can also lead to mental spirals or paranoid thinking but again, this is really a misuse of our suddenly enhanced (and essentially useful) ability to track data with impeccable and nearly psychic accuracy. Occurring in sync with todayâs transits, Chiron opposes the sun and squares Mars, while the sun enters a harmonious trine to Jupiter. The sun trine Jupiter is a lovely, expansive and uplifting transit, providing the resilience and opportunism to handle the momentâs more challenging astrology with grace and humor. Chiron Opposite the sun illuminates an ego wound, or an insecurity we harbor around our sense of identity and individuality â when overlapping with Mars square Chiron, this can lead to restlessness or defensiveness and potentially inclines us toward aggression or even hostility. Know that others are feeling this way as well â especially with Mercury square Pluto, everyone is more activated than usual, so we can inadvertently stumble onto someoneâs primal turf even amid casual, seemingly friendly banter â but Chiron transits to the sun illuminate our deep core wounding, encouraging us to be present with those wounds so we can move toward enhanced healing and wellness. There are opportunities today to enhance our sense of resolve and any conflicts which arise arenât a detour from that outcome â itâs the path.
Monday, October 14th. Mars squares the Sun in Libra and while this transit is especially influencing anyone with a planet around 21 degrees of a cardinal sign (Capricorn, Cancer, Aries, Libra) itâs generally combative and turbulent, inducing a widespread sense of impulsivity, egotism, competitiveness and defensiveness. Especially with Mars in the shadow of his retrograde as of October 7th, this isnât a good time to initiate conflict or acts of hostility (including a formal lawsuit -- doing so is likely to accrue costly or unintended consequences, or to simply drag on much further than desired or intended.) Even if you feel relatively chill throughout the days surrounding this transit (Iâm considering it relevant from Sunday to Tuesday), know that others are likely to act aggressively and insulate yourself accordingly (most especially on the road â Mars governs heavy machinery, including cars, so others are likely to be impatient and combative behind the wheel.) If you must engage in conflict today, check your motivations and ideally, avoid petty or ego-centered squabbles (which unfortunately, this transit incites.) But Mars square the Sun is fantastic at energizing us around our goals and motivations, helping us clarify and tackle them. We function best during this transit with a goal to pursue and even more specifically, a physical outlet to express our abundance of energy â pushing yourself at the gym, pulling extra hours at work or other impassioned gestures taken to realize your ambitions are supported by this transit, without which we can be prone to restlessness, frustration, brinkmanship or self-destruction. Venus also opposes Uranus in Taurus today which weâll begin to feel over the weekend and through Wednesday. Like all Uranus transits, this one is disruptive, a catalyst for change within style, relationships, creativity and even finances (particularly for those with a planet around 26 degrees of a fixed sign â Taurus, Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio.) It can rock one-on-one relationships wherein one party has been compromising aspects of their individuality or downplaying their needs â while Venus is diplomatic and ever-willing to compromise, Uranus is wholeheartedly not â but in doing so, it provokes necessary conversations and healthy disruption where one or both individuals have become complacent, either illuminating incompatibility or creating a new dynamic which allows for freedom and spaciousness. Otherwise, this is an excellent transit for experimental moves within dating, relationships, style and cosmetics (although ideally, avoid permanent or long-lasting aesthetic moves during this transit â itâs more a time for noncommittal dabbling, like styling your hair a different way or rocking a statement piece thatâs weird for you.) It can also be a good time for dating outside of your usual type, inciting weird romance and sparky chemistry with an unexpected individual (again, this transit doesnât promise permanence or place emphasis on commitment â it does, however, curate unexpected moments which may then revolutionize your approach to dating.) Regarding creativity, this transit is messy and doesnât function well within deadlines or specific assignments but it is productive. Itâs the antithesis to creative stagnation -- anticipate innovative breakthroughs which â because this is an opposition â may be ill-timed or inconvenient, requiring you to go off-script, separate from a stifling collaboration or scrap work youâve already invested time or money in. But if youâre willing to embrace a perspective flip, to think within a different framework or follow an unexpected rabbit hole, itâs genius.
Tuesday, October 15th. Venus trines Neptune today, a lovely, supportive and romantic transit. Collectively, it makes us all more empathetic, sensitive, and receptive to beauty and kindness (even though it overlaps with some of the more difficult transits of the week.) Weâre more easily touched by artistry, spirituality and beauty â the touch of our partner, a song that perfectly matches our mood, or driving by a tree whose leaves are a spectacular shade of blood red moves us more than usual. Itâs an excellent time to be deliberately receptive to the beauty and pleasure which surrounds us â the first sip of a well-made cup of coffee, for example, or the warmth and comfort of your favorite fall flannel. Being present for those simple moments â especially amid the weekâs more intense and challenging astrology â is an incredibly healing salve this week (but especially from Monday to Wednesday.)
Thursday, October 17th. Today is the Full Moon in Aries, square Mars and Pluto (Mars in Cancer, Pluto in Capricorn), conjunct Chiron in Aries and sextile Jupiter in Gemini. Though still seven degrees away, Mars and Pluto are approaching an opposition which supercharges the intensity of this already aggro Full Moon, nearly locking the three planets (four, plus Chiron) into a T-square. Full Moons are emotional and evocative, associated with turbulence and tension and in Aries, this primarily manifests as frustration and anger (especially when that Full Moon is square Mars, the Warrior Planet and ruler of assertive Aries.) People are quicker to revert to aggression and defensiveness throughout this Full Moon window, and because the moon is also conjunct Chiron and square Pluto, our survival mechanisms â including those which are not well-adjusted -- are heightened. Everyone is feeling slightly wounded and on edge (although anyone with a planet around 24 degrees of a cardinal sign will be especially impacted, unable to overlook even casual disrespect.) The FM square Pluto has a particularly revelatory and climactic vibe with enhanced transformative potential â something is illuminated now and while weâre too emotionally supercharged to âdoâ anything about it, notice what comes up throughout this Full Moon window as itâs highly significant (and â because Pluto is at the anaretic degree of Capricorn and preparing to move back into Aquarius for the long haul on November 19th â it could reveal something about your era of Pluto in Capricorn, closing out the last two decades or helping you alchemize their big lessons.) The FM sextile Jupiter is prosperous, enterprising and expansive â as you navigate todayâs intense lunar phenomena, donât overlook moments of luck or the cool benefits unlocked re the momentâs rad realizations or alchemy. Mercury also sextiles Pluto in the FM window â it enhances the revelatory vibe, bringing concealed or unconfirmed information to the surface (along with breakthrough dialogue which transforms a perspective.) Venus also enters Sagittarius today until the 11th of November, leaving shadowy Scorp for the sunny, optimistic sign of the archer. Venus in Sag presents options and builds momentum in our romantic and creative lives and lowers our collective threshold for boredom. Broadly, others are less likely to hold grudges or take things personally (not including today, of course â this FM super inclines us to take offense to even minor annoyances but over the weekend, weâre more likely to notice the breezy, open-minded optimism of this ingress.) Venus in Sag can incline us to get crushes on those we sense can teach us something â we crave expansion, travel and adventure, and it favors relationships with plenty of space but strains bonds where one or both partners feel trapped or controlled.
Tuesday, October 22nd. Mercury forms a water trine to Saturn today, a lovely and supportive transit which facilitates the flow of commerce, negotiations, and harmony within our relationships and business dealings. This transit supports clear, decisive thinking and incites breakthroughs within mundane involvements; itâs also a time where ingenuity, wit, charm, humor, eloquence and on-the-fly thinking can prove surprisingly helpful when navigating a pragmatic matter or negotiating a power play. But the sun also squares Pluto today just before entering Scorpio until November 21st, an agitating influence which makes us extra sensitive to the underlying power dynamics of our relationships. If you suspect manipulation or think you sense a sneaky power-grab around this transit, youâre probably right â the good news? With Mercury trine Saturn, itâs easier to negotiate (especially if it involves Saturnian authority figures â bosses, parents, landlords or even the government. Think taxes, accounting, legal matters, the DMV, etc.) Ideally, avoid giving the scenario more of your vitality and focus than itâs worth â itâs best handled via a Mercurial response (outwitting your opponent, for example, or simply making light of the situation can be surprisingly effective at dissolving acrimony or disempowering an adversary.) Because our emotions run high during this transit, the vibe on the street is generally more reactive and activated than usual (everyone is especially sensitive to infringements on âtheirâ turf and more likely to take such affronts â real or imagined, deliberate or unintentional â extremely personally.) But even a hard aspect between these planets sets the stage for a cool self-empowerment feat and enhances resolve â we canât reap the benefits, though, if weâre consumed by heavy emotions or resentments (itâs worth noting, though, that we do also benefit from the intel this astro provides. If someone flexes a power muscle throughout this transit or resentment arises you didnât know you harbored, note it.) The sun in Scorpio officially marks the beginning of Scorpio Season and adds the overwhelmingly watery vibe of the moment. If youâre feeling more emotional and psychic than usual, youâre probably tapped into the current abundance of aquatic astro in the cosmos (Saturn, Neptune, Mercury, and Mars are all currently transiting water signs.) While some temperaments find this uncomfortable or irritating â especially with the emphasis on fixed fire, which is weighty, intense and sometimes brooding â consider that this much water element comes with cool benefits (strong intuition, the ability to penetrate surfaces and superficiality and an enhanced ability to âtrackâ and recall data. Everyone is also feeling more empathetic, sensitive and attuned to the needs of others than usual â whether they like this or not.) Itâs also illuminating emotions we always harbor â we just might usually be better at disassociating from them -- and itâs a great time to work water magick, nurture your intimate relationships, and cultivate imagination, creativity and emotional intelligence.
Thursday, October 24th. Mars forms a sextile to Uranus today which inspires autonomy, freedom, agency and innovation. While itâs especially affecting those with a planet around 26 degrees of an earth or water sign, it encourages the audacity and confidence within all of us to get experimental â itâs dynamic, exciting, and compels us to seek fun, embrace change, and shake off staleness or complacency. This is an excellent transit to time anything requiring boldness, ingenuity or motivation â we organically find ourselves moving away from anything that inhibits our self-expression or freedom and feel emboldened to unapologetically pursue our desires.
Monday, October 28th. Venus squares Saturn today, and Mars enters a harmonious trine with watery Neptune. Mars trine Neptune is a lovely transit supportive of any practice involving physical movement (Mars) and spirituality, art, healing or intimacy (Neptune) â think sports or athletic activities, yoga, movement, breathwork, EFT/tapping or even sex. Unfortunately, though, Venus square Saturn is deeply unromantic and annoyingly pragmatic. Ideally, this is not a good time for dating or engaging with the Venusian realms in a way that can cue insecurity. This transit inclines us toward self-consciousness about how we look, dress, and even our innate value and worthiness can feel uncertain (though itâs especially affecting those with a planet around twelve degrees of a mutable sign.) In relationships, it tends to accentuate what isnât working or generally makes us feel like weâre asking for too much â it can also introduce hyper-awareness of our own perceived flaws, or a sense of having failed at relationships in the past (if itâs hitting your chart exactly, it could also introduce money woes or a sense of financial tightness or limited time or resources â a âfunâ cash stash is depleted to fill a cavity, for example, or a letter comes in the mail that you owe something you thought youâd paid.) We might want to feel sensual and Venusian but we canât â under the harsh light of Venus square Saturn, the underpinnings of our relationships, style and finances become obvious, but therein lies the benefit of this transit. Address whatever flaws seem annoyingly apparent, applying a pragmatic, systemic approach where youâd usually rely on charm, luck or for things to just flow (which I donât recommend during this transit.) Itâs an excellent three-day period to organize your finances, initiate a relationship check-in with your partner (or, if casually dating, to assess the pragmatism of an early-stage fling or re-assess your dating strategies and relationship boundaries altogether) and to deliberately re-structure your closet, relationships and/or savings protocol.
Wednesday, October 30th. Mercury Opposes Uranus today, and we have a Dark Moon in Libra leading up to the New Moon on the 1st of November. Weâre integrating the relationship realizations and transformation which occurred around the Solar Eclipse on the 2nd but more generally, Dark Moons in Libra bring our awareness to where weâve fallen out of equilibrium (and bring insight into how to restore it.) Weâre also more perceptive to what others are feeling or needing (which â while useful â shouldnât distract us from realizing what we need to cultivate or maintain homeostasis.) With Mercury Opposite Uranus, ideas and dialogue are more significant than they seem (write down any flashes of insight and make note if inspiration strikes today, even if it seems random or off-topic.) Tangents and seemingly off-topic rabbit holes can yield genius insights, and incoming intel could stimulate a breakthrough or introduce an unexpected plot twist. Â
Thursday, October 31st. Happy Samhain! Todayâs holiday coincides with Mercury trine Neptune and a Dark Moon in Scorpio (as of 1:29 Eastern Time.) Dark Moons provoke big realizations and conjure depth but â itâs worth noting â they can be a drag. Preceding the exhilarating monthly rebirth marked by the New Moon, theyâre weighty, emotional and bring forth our most subtle feelings (which â with the current abundance of planets in water signs â are already intense.) Dark Moons in Scorpio are especially revelatory, heightening our deeper perceptions and awareness of everything from our passions, attractions, relationships, grudges, aspirations and resentments. Ideally, though, we can channel this intensity into the intentional release of something, conjuring the resilience, resolve and empowerment to set intentions on tomorrowâs New Moon which center our most private yearnings. This being a magickal day where the veil between the worlds is thin, itâs an excellent time for a shame-release ritual (or to call in the ancestors to help you let go of whatever no longer serves or is holding you back from living in authenticity, which the moon in Scorpio compels us toward.) This is all supported by Mercury in a water trine to Neptune, which favors communing with spirits, intuitive insight, symbolism, synchronicity, dream-work and divination.
