Pisces New Moon Newsletter
Happy New Moon in Pisces, witches!
We’re at the end of a 12-month lunar cycle, these next four weeks bringing invitations to tie up loose ends and to rest and re-balance before we set our major goals for the year on the Aries New Moon (which, this year, happens to also be an Eclipse!) As Eclipse Season approaches, it’s important to remember that the role of these lunar moments is to invite us into deep emotional presence (the Pisces Moon Cycle does this, too!) The next four weeks are calling us back to sit with and tend to our emotions – if we do this, we’ll feel fully ready to charge ahead come the New Moon Eclipse in Aries on April 8th!
Now, here’s the breakdown of your astrology for the next four weeks:
Sunday, March 10. Today is the New Moon in Pisces, conjunct the Mercury, Neptune and Saturn alignment and synced to Uranus in Taurus (and forming an out-of-sign sextile to Pluto, still hovering within the first degree of Aquarius.) New Moons aligned to Saturn are pragmatic and favor organization, structure and utility — in ethereal Pisces and aligned to Neptune, this manifests as artistic acumen or spiritual insight we can practically apply in the real world. We can feel really inconvenienced by data or details today but the reprieve is a healthy balance between humble proactivity and Piscean pleasures — i.e., healthy mediums for temporary escape such as drawing, painting, writing, creativity, napping, spirituality or otherwise enjoying beauty and cultivating intimacy with the self and others. Such activities are extra satisfying now and counteract any oppressive Saturnine heaviness — more beneficially, Mercurial New Moons like this one are fab for fresh mindsets and breezy, helpful dialogue, while the moon’s comforting sextile to Uranus and Pluto means it’s liberating and transformational (even if quietly). Regardless of whether or not you sense this, you are recalibrating — Pisces New Moons are also natural starting points to launch healing initiatives (physically, mentally or spiritually), to deepen relationships and to spend more time alone. Mercury is sextile Pluto today as well — think deep dialogue which initiates a breakthrough realization or a relationship reboot (it’s also good for deliberately transforming your mindset around something or unearthing deep truths you’d usually prefer to leave unconscious.) This New Moon is also falling in the window of Mars square Uranus — it’s an irritant and a time where others can be really stubborn and unlikely to compromise. I wouldn’t recommend seeking conflict resolution or approaching touchy topics with known-to-be turbulent individuals during the New Moon window: however, it’s liberating, creative and innovative, reviving latent passion even if also fueling a sense of general unrest. If something has become boring, limiting or simply too conventional for us, we know it during this transit — coinciding with the New Moon, it’s a good time to free ourselves from anything that’s become outdated or oppressive (pay attention to what annoys you today — it’s probably requiring you to suppress an aspect of your wildness you aren’t comfortable taming.)
Monday, March 11. Venus enters Pisces today until April, one of the signs in which the Goddess of Love is considered to be “exalted.” Venus in Pisces is a time of enhanced creativity, receptivity and intimacy — everyone is a little more romantic than unusual with heightened sensitivity around their own emotional needs as well as those of others. It’s a great time to tend to our intimate relationships or to cultivate depth in a new bond — it’s also strongly supportive for creatives, particularly those whose artform involves imagination, beauty or channeling from a higher source. Venus in Pisces is a time for deep healing — particularly around the heart and transmuting old romantic wounds — and it’s a time where simple acts of rest, self-care, adornment and beautification can serve as a Venusian re-set.
Sunday, March 17. Neptune and the sun conjunct in Pisces today, so the vibe is dreamy, ethereal and — for those who prefer straightforward data and clarity — a little bit anxiety-inducing. Neptune conjunct the sun is a creativity and style catalyst — we can pull off really cool, divinely-inspired fashion/artistic stunts during this time — but on a deeper level, it can make us feel estranged from who we are or confused about our identity, leading to depressive lows, flimsy boundaries or cloudy decision-making. It’s not a good time to make big commitments, especially within relationships, and emerging details, people or opportunities are often not as they first appear within the two days on either side of this transit. It’s a time where rest, self-care, beauty, spirituality, introspection, nutrition, solitude and playful creative expression are more healing than unusual — it’s not a time for risky investments of your resources (including your time, money and heart) or bold decisions based on a gamble. Spiritual insights flow in with ease and imagination is at peak strength, but remembering appointments, details, or the car keys could prove a little more challenging. The best results come if we don’t demand productivity or decisiveness of ourselves during this window — put off tending to mundanity or metrics if possible and instead, channel this watery energy into psychic development, playful self-expression, artistry and intimacy. If you enjoy tracking your dreams or working with them for healing or divination, expect cool breakthroughs from the 15th — 19th!
Monday, March 18. Mercury conjuncts the North Node in Aries, where the Messenger God remains for longer than usual this year due to an upcoming retrograde through the sign of the ram. It’s ultimately auspicious — Mercury in Aries is a catalyst for direct communication, self-actualization and self-assurance, even if provoking arguments or impulsivity along the way — but the former is especially true when Mercury aligns to the North Node (and falling this close to April’s Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Taurus — more on that coming soon.) Mercury will form an exact conjunction to the North Node only once (the moon’s nodes also move retrograde) but they remain close together throughout the entirety of Mercury’s backspin so pay attention to what’s being seeded now as it’s hinting at something to be developed further later in April. With the retrograde imminent and Neptune conjunct the sun, it isn’t fully-formed (or something about it isn’t quite what it seems) but yes, something cool is happening now.
Tuesday, March 19. Happy Spring Equinox! The sun enters Aries, marking the official first day of Spring here in the Northern Hemisphere. The Equinoxes are natural turning points, while the symbolism of the Vernal Equinox is renewal, growth, balance and rebirth. These dates are always cosmobiologically intense — we experience peak gravitational pull from the sun, sometimes even leading to somatic symptoms in sensitive individuals — but timing new beginnings to the Vernal Equinox is highly auspicious. Think of the equinoxes as twice-yearly cues to re-set: we can more easily find our equilibrium around these dates and they’re great for energy-work, massages, and any other act of personal re-centering. This one falls on a Leo moon, emphasizing the creative potential and imbuing anything we make or birth now (art, relationships, ideas, agreements) with extra magick.
Wednesday, March 20. Mercury conjuncts Chiron, a time where we’re likely to be confronted by wounded thinking, self-conscious perspectives, or mindsets that we’ve acquired as a result of past hurts. Conjunctions are sneaky in that their effects can evade our conscious awareness — in other words, we might not identify a particular belief, thought pattern or communication strategy as a coping mechanism or an expression of our pain. Awareness is key; pay attention to the feedback loops you’re generating around the time of this transit, and reflect on the subconscious mindsets which seem to inform your words and actions. This is the first of three conjunctions Mercury will make to Chiron this Spring — the second occurs on April 15 when the Messenger God is retrograde, while the final alignment is exact on May 6 — and collectively, this brings an opportunity for self-improvement and to build momentum on your healing journey, starting with something seeded around this date.
Thursday, March 21. Saturn and Venus conjunct in Pisces today, an annual opportunity to restructure within our relationships and self-care regimens and to firm up our boundaries and/or dating protocol. The downside? It’s decidedly unromantic, even in dreamy Pisces. Venus conjunct Saturn highlights a relationship’s practicality and substance (or lack thereof) regardless of whether or not it’s convenient to consider. If you’ve been trying to assess a budding romance’s potential to endure, welcome this astro as a catalyst for imminent clarification – flimsy flings or fringe friendships which lack Saturnian durability reveal themselves as such (and in the harsh lighting of this transit, they don’t seem as valuable as those time-tested bonds we share with our close few.) This transit doesn’t favor splurging, self-confidence or getting by on charm alone – if you can’t back your Venusian allure with real knowledge, authority or ability, don’t flex it – and it’s a time where limiting factors, as well as real or perceived failures or shortcomings, can aggressively surface or simply feel more oppressive than usual (especially regarding Venus themes like finances, relationships, beauty and aesthetics.) It’s a good time for budgeting or trimming back on excess, re-visiting or re-establishing boundaries within relationships, and revising those everyday beauty and self-care routines which must change over time (like skincare.) If you’re at a creative stand-still or feel uninspired by your look, think timeless. What has always worked? Pluto also harmonizes with the Sun today which will offset any Saturnian neuroses or self-guilting. It’s fab astro for an energizing coup, a creative resurgence or a bold, empowering move.
Saturday, March 24. Venus sextiles Jupiter today, a lovely and welcomed follow-up to the insecurity-provoking Venus/Saturn conjunction. If resources felt short earlier in the week, more information comes to light or something new is offered today – if we felt insecure or inadequate, cozy dynamics and stimulating bonds this weekend make us forget why. You can’t always schedule fun but today’s vibe is conducive to joyful connection and uncomplicated pleasure-seeking — pencil in anything you want to benefit from this amicable astro.
Monday, March 25. It’s the Lunar Eclipse in Libra, opposite the North Node, Chiron, and Mercury in Aries and harmonizing with Pluto in Aquarius. The Full Moon in Libra is always a catalyst for relationship growth, development or endings but especially so when conjunct the South Node – this Lunar Eclipse is likely to bring up scenarios from the past, evoking memories or inviting us to think back on decisions we’ve made or patterns we’ve repeated in our previous relationships. It’s accurate to say that emotions are always running high with an Eclipse but this one brings meaningful and objective insight into whether our relationships are still functioning optimally and if they’re not, how to rebalance them becomes clear. The moon’s alignment with Pluto means we can comfortably traverse our emotional depths and garner insight into the psychology of others – it’s a fab Full Moon for restoring intimacy or authenticity in a neglected connection – while the opposition to Mercury and Chiron means whatever wound or insecurity we’re working through this Retrograde (which likely came up around the 20th), this Full Moon activates emotions around it (but we can use the stark objectivity of Libra to deploy reason and logic and experience insight into why we have them – what their origin is, and how we can re-write the narrative.)
Thursday, March 28. Venus harmonizes with Uranus – it’s awesome for romantic or creative breakthroughs and experimental but genius moves within dating, personal style, fashion or art. When Uranus is forming an aspect to an inner planet, circumstances can change quickly and we shouldn’t assume otherwise – but when that aspect is a lovely sextile, it’s usually an overtly positive change (a nervy, brilliant move scores us more money, resources or a hot date, or a sudden flash of insight generates a fresh new creative concept.) With Uranus in grounded Taurus, whatever happens today has the potential to last or provide benefits which we continue to enjoy – it might be small but the potential for personal liberation and ingenuity is strong.
Monday, April 1. Mercury turns retrograde until April 25th and it’s definitely going to be interesting. The Messenger God won’t usually spend more than a few weeks in any one sign but this spring, he remains in Aries for nine whole weeks -- it’s actionable, aspirational and momentum-building. This nine-week period (including the retrograde) is supportive for clarification, direct communication and having the audacity to say exactly what we mean – the downside, of course, is our collective propensity toward Aries impulsivity. We can be more inclined than usual to devolve into arguments in situations wherein diplomacy, charm, or projecting a smooth, cool demeanor would be much more in our favor – we can also be more likely to take risks before carefully weighing our options. Mercury Retrogrades in action-oriented Aries can find us propelling forward before we’ve gathered all the intel – not to say that this is a bad idea (others appreciate a solution-oriented, straightforward approach when Mercury moves through Aries) but certainly, carefully weigh the rewards – and potential downsides – of each risk you take for the next few weeks. If it’s avoidable, don’t burn bridges or slam doors – it’s a classic Mercury-Retrograde-in-Aries foible to alienate an ally and later regret it. But this Mercury Retrograde is developing something cool – conjunct the North Node and forming three alignments to Chiron, it’s providing an opportunity to tend to a wounded aspect of our psyche and energize us in our role of healer and hero. Look to where 27 to 15 degrees of Aries falls in your birth chart – that’s the house Mercury is moving through in your birth chart, and those themes will be activated this Retrograde.
Wednesday, April 3. Venus conjuncts Neptune in Pisces today, a time of heightened sensitivity, psychic awareness and creative inspiration. We’re more moved by beauty, intimacy, spirituality and solitude than usual, and this transit is a catalyst for romance and artistic self-expression, bringing chance meetings, synchronicity and channeled inspiration. If there’s a downside, it’s that we can approach matters which should be pragmatic – finances, relationships, etc. – with magickal thinking, often leading to disillusionment or flimsy boundaries. It’s not a good time to make concrete decisions regarding worldly matters which benefit from pragmatism but creating art, tending to an intimate bond or doing anything to nourish your spirit? Yes!
Thursday, April 4. The sun conjuncts the North Node in Aries – we’ve been feeling this since the Equinox but it’s strongest from the 2nd – 6th, especially falling this close to the upcoming New Moon Eclipse. The sun conjunct the North Node is evocative, and it’s an opportunity to resolve lingering emotions from the Full Moon Eclipse on the 25th. Pay attention to your feelings today — sure, this is good advice generally but if anything needs to be processed before the New Moon cycle, it arises around this date.
Friday, April 5. Venus joins the sun and Mercury in Aries until the end of the month and in the lusty sign of the War God, the Goddess of Love abandons her wispy Piscean gown for a bold red power suit. This transit is highly supportive for early-stage dating and having the audacity to pursue others and act on crushes and attractions, energizing sexual polarity, sparky flirtations and courageous initiatives within a romance. It’s also a wonderful transit for a bold new beauty or stylistic change – in general, we can approach the Venusian realms (romance, creativity, finances) with heightened autonomy and a pioneering spirit, making these life areas work for us.
Saturday, April 6. Venus sextiles Pluto within her first day of entering Aries – think heightened ambition and resolve within romance, relationships, style and creativity, and the potential for cool morphs or physical transformations. The vibe today is innately conducive to intimacy – others are less guarded than usual and we can more easily see through facades, facilitating authentic connection between us and everyone we encounter today.
Sunday, April 7. It’s the dark moon in Aries today – ideal for banishing distractions and minimizing anything which interferes with your self-actualization process. Trim away complication and excess today – tomorrow is the Solar Eclipse in Aries, bringing big reveals and opportunities for a new beginning.
Happy New Moon!
