Pisces: // The Six of Cups
Happy Solar Return, Pisces! Expect to feel emotional this birthday as the Six of Cups swims into your microcosm, evoking past memories and accentuating old attachments and energetic hooks. With both Mercury and Venus retrograde this month (Venus turns retro on March 1st, Mercury on the 15th), this birthday finds you reflecting on the murkiest chapters of your origin story. It’s possible someone from your past resurfaces this month (but regardless of whether or not this occurs, your formative relationships, decisions and experiences are at the forefront of your mind and heart.) Pay attention to what – and who – does surface: They’re prompting you to process unresolved emotions (and serve as an affirmation that you’re ready to.) This may take the form of a chance run-in with an old lover, or a new lover with strangely similar tendencies (or a childhood friend who sirs poignant memories of the highs and lows of adolescence!) But the call may come from inside the house – a familiar pattern emerges, an old coping mechanism surfaces, or a belief instilled by your early caregivers’ creeps up and activates old grief. Whatever emotions arise this month, Pisces, don’t overthink the catalyst: Instead, welcome the emotions they conjure, and notice the patterns they illuminate (even if they re-open wounds which were never properly tended to. This card often arises when we’re ready to feel something for the very first time.) The superpower of your sign is your ability to stay with your emotions – no small feat, given that Pisceans feel everything deeply (hence why art, spirituality and world-building offer a necessary reprieve.) Lean into that gift this month, Pisces, allowing the emotional gravity of what has already come to pass wash over you (and giving yourself full permission to experience it completely.) If any reparenting needs to be done around this, The Six of Cups is extremely supportive (many young Pisceans were discouraged from embracing their sensitive and intuitive natures, or grew up feeling unsafe to express their emotions.) March of 2025 is a pivotal month for Pisceans: Just after celebrating your personal new year, your ruling planet Neptune leaves your sign at the end of the month (which it’s been traversing since 2011, possibly re-introducing something you never fully processed from around 14 years ago!) This Solar Return is a special one, bringing opportunities to reparent yourself and get present with your most complex and deep-rooted emotions. Accepting this card’s invitation allows you to leave old attachments and emotional hang-ups in the winter: As we welcome spring on March 20th, it marks a collective rebirth for Pisceans. Circle March 29th on your calendar as well: The Solar Eclipse illuminates emotions you haven’t fully processed, while Mercury’s two sextiles to Pluto (on March 5th and 25th respectively) spark a sweeping of the corners of your psyche, removing psychic dirt and energetic grime. There’s strength in your vulnerability, Pisces: Surrender to the emotions which long to be felt, understood and expressed, letting go of anything which dims your light or prevents you from embracing your softness. It might not feel like anything major is happening, but you’re choosing self-love this solar return — and it’s best gift you can give yourself!
Aries: // The Two of Wands
You’re still in the energy of Two, Aries – in numerology, Two represents building, recalibration and expansion. In many ways, it’s a continuation of last month’s vibe – but the transition from Earth (Pentacles) to your ruling element of Fire (Wands) is dramatic (and very much “suits” you – pun intended!) When The Two of Wands arises, we’re in a phase of building, co-creation, and laying important groundwork. This card assures that we have a strong foundation on which to build – but it’s still early on in the suit, so we’ve got quite a bit further to go! Though most interpretations of The Two of Wands reflect its optimistic tone, it doesn’t necessarily feel hopeful and exciting to move through. I recently pulled this card while in the throes of anxiety, feeling pulled in different directions and unsure of which choice to make. I asked the Tarot my go-to question to ground me when I’m anxious (What card am I “in” right now?) and — having braced myself for the visual drama of The Ten of Swords (which I pull frequently as a double air sign with an inclination to overthink) — I was surprised to see the Two of Wands fly out of the deck (so much so, I had to fight the urge to disregard and reshuffle!) Although the cool, calm imagery didn’t match my mood, it reminded me that it’s not unusual to pull this card when feeling conflicted, overwhelmed, or even outright lost. But seeing it is a blessing, Aries – it’s a sweet reminder that regardless of any stress you’re feeling this month, having options is a beautiful thing. It’s a gift, and TBH, no “wrong” choice lies before you (as long as you’re connected to yourself as you move forward on your chosen path.) You’re already well set-up; knowing this, you can lead with the fiery joy, optimism and confidence for which your sign is known, continuing to build on your established foundation. A series of bold, creative choices have gotten you to this moment – don’t forget to celebrate the stability you’ve already made manifest. The best thing about The Two of Wands, Aries? When we pull it, we’re being reminded that the world is our oyster. We’re supported as we take our next steps, and there’s a juicy, vibrant journey ahead. The future can feel scary and unpromising – but this card is an affirmation that you’re more prepared than you might think. You’re well-positioned, Aries, even if you don’t see that yet. The Wands in this card represent the vast collection of experiences, wisdom and calculated movements which have gotten you to this point: And even though The Tarot doesn’t guarantee outcomes (and in fact, no divination tool does) you can trust in the instincts which have gotten you this far. You aren’t wandering around aimlessly here, Aries – even if outside circumstances don’t seem to support you, have confidence in the fact that you know what you’re doing. If you tap into your inner fire, obstacles dissolve and possibilities materialize – it’s really that simple (but of course, simple doesn’t mean easy.) Mercury and Venus retrograde through your sign this month are urging you to cultivate confidence in yourself – a confidence that is well-founded and backed by intuition and instinct -- while The Solar Eclipse in your sign on March 29th illuminates possibilities you didn’t know were there. March is helping you re-orient yourself, Aries, clarifying your next steps and illuminating a way forward. It all begins when you remember that you’ve gotten yourself this far – and you’re your own best guide on the road to expansion!
Taurus: // The Four of Pentacles
You need space this month, Taurus. If you’ve been with me for a while, you know that I’m passionate about this card. While many interpretations of The Four of Pentacles associate it with the “miser” archetype, indicating greed, hoarding, being closed off and possessiveness (or, more literally, an unhealthy relationship with money) that is simply not my view (and has not been my experience with this card personally or professionally.) Firstly, the scope of The Pentacles Suit extends way beyond cash – instead, think of the coins as representing a form of energetic currency – and secondly, we need to be careful when a common Tarot perspective conveys a strong POV (as it’s usually that of the dominant culture.) In a society which doesn’t favor female self-possession, boundaries and bodily autonomy, it’s only fitting that this card gets such a bad rap – but don’t be fooled. The Four of Pentacles never indicates that you’re blocking abundance by being too stingy (with your time, money or other resource.) Rather, it tends to arise when we don’t feel receptive to the inflow of abundance (and we don’t feel inclined -- or available -- to dip into our resources or give of ourselves.) It may indicate a season of not wanting to be physically touched, or not feeling as though we have much to offer emotionally or materially. Whether something specific has you rocked this month or it’s simply part of your natural rhythm, you’re feeling called to secure your fortress, to seek solace in the certainty of your boundaries and to conserve your physical and energetic resources throughout March. Controversial opinion alert: That’s totally OK! This is healthy, it’s human, and it’s temporary. The only way to move through this card, Taurus, is to simply honor your body’s needs. This might involve implementing stronger boundaries and requesting more space from those around you (and having no tolerance for anybody who takes that request personally.) Typically when this card arises, we’re trying to ground, to create an energetic container of safety and stability. Focus on fortifying your body and aura this month, Taurus, on re-building your reserves of energy and abundance; efforts taken toward self-regulation will be crucial. Ideally, avoid anything which makes you feel jumpy or frayed (such as excessive caffeine, difficult people or unnecessary change) and take it easy on your delicate system where possible this month. Lean heavily on the nourishment and consistency you crave by cooking yourself hearty meals, taking long walks and prioritizing anything which tends to your wellness. With Eclipse Season shaking things up and Neptune entering Aries on March 30th, monumental shift are occurring — this is taxing on everybody’s system, but Taureans are particularly sensitive to planetary shifts (and often experience them viscerally.) Take care of yourself, Taurus – set some boundaries, ask for what you need and focus on building yourself up, consolidating and tending to your own energy. Be protective of your routines, your values and your boundaries – don’t let others convince you that these are a problem, that you “owe” them something, or that you’re being too rigid, inflexible or withholding. If you have any destructive beliefs around your right to self-possession or autonomy, those could surface this month to be re-examined and released – take a hard, critical look at them, and simply let them go. You have a right to claim your space, both physically and energetically. Your invitation is to exercise that right this month, invoking it with wild abandon whenever you see fit.
Gemini: // The Seven of Wands
You might feel a bit defensive this month, Gemini, or as though your nervous system is on edge. Moving through The Seven of Wands can bring a sense of hypervigilance – we feel compelled to defend ourselves, to protect our title or position, but when Seven of Wands arises, this usually has more to do with unattended wounding, a past rejection or an inner insecurity than any outside threat. Anytime we’re working with the energy of a Seven, we’re being invited to do inner work – but it’s usually prompted by something that feels external (shoutout to the brilliant Lindsay Mack for pioneering this idea.) The Wands suit is fiery, dynamic, and activates our adrenals –more than any other suit (except perhaps The Pentacles), we experience it viscerally. Circle March 24th on your calendar: Your ruling planet, Mercury, retrogrades backwards into a conjunction with the sun in fiery Aries (aka, a Mercury “cazimi.”) While this transit has many benefits (helping us birth new concepts and energizing our ideas) it also compels us to identify with our thoughts, ideas and opinions more firmly (and inclines us to take it personally when others disagree.) You don’t need to convince anyone of anything, Gemini: If you sense the need to defend your perspectives or beliefs this month, stop and consider whether it’s really the other person you feel the need to defend them to. When this card arises, it can feel like others are coming for us when they aren’t – paying attention to the body’s cues is a major indication of when this is happening. If your fight-or-flight response kicks in, your adrenals activate or you’re overcome by a feeling of vigilance this month (and your safety is in no way compromised, such as in an ideological debate), zoom out. You are not your ideas, Gemini – you are not your thoughts, opinions, or perspectives. When others disagree, this isn’t an attack on you – and more importantly, you need not defend your position to anybody. This card can arise for any number of reasons – you may feel competitive about a promotion at work, fiercely protective of a label you identify with or at constant risk of losing your partner to someone with more style, beauty or clout. This card is exhausting to move through, but it’s healing in that it points us to a deeper wound, insecurity or belief which we’re (finally) ready to process. With both Mercury and Venus retrograde this month, you’re supported in this deep introspection: Both planets will sextile Pluto three times throughout their retrogrades, an excellent transit for digging deep and excavating the sneaky underlying beliefs or past hurts which subtly inform our behavior (March 5th, 21st and 25th are your dates for this – on April 20th, the final sextile between Mercury and Pluto allows you to access the full benefits of March’s self-inquiry.) The Solar Eclipse in Aries on the 29th also sextiles Pluto: These are all fabulous transits for helping you gently identify where your survival mechanisms are being activated (when they aren’t helpful or necessary.) If something feels like an attack (and it’s outside the realm of violence in any sense of the word) don’t shy away from looking at that trigger more deeply. Maybe competitiveness at work is related to insecurity about your abilities, or your relationship has you on edge because of a former romance where trust was violated – only you know. Follow up on these fiery instincts, Gemini: Tap into your curiosity and trace this month’s conflicts back to their energetic root (because there is one.) March brings opportunities to shift your beliefs about your role within the world, and to release the self-sabotaging tendencies which keep you stuck and prevent you from stepping up. It all starts with the small moments this month wherein you feel defensive, competitive or as though you’re in a stand-off – they’re pointing to something within you that’s ready to be alchemized!
Cancer: // The Page of Swords
It’s your moment, Cancer! Remember last month when I said there’d be major shifts come March? The Page of Swords delivers the message that they’re here. It’s your time, Cancer – The Knight of Pentacles compelled you to cross your T’s and dot your metaphorical I’s in February. You’ve tackled the administrative tasks and tended to the details, and now the timing is right to move forward with whatever project, message or new beginning you’d like to bring forward. The Page of Swords is a powerful archetype and healer – after the essentially taxing journey of the swords suit, it’s the first time we see a character who wields their blade with awe, wonder, reverence and respect (and this is true in every rendition of the artwork I’ve encountered.) The Swords in the Tarot represent Truth (capital “T!”), logic, intellect, communication, and authenticity – more overarchingly, they encapsulate the power of the mind, it’s threatening sharpness and awe-inspiring poignancy. As witches, we understand the gravity of this commanding and dynamic suit – our minds have the power to create and destroy, informing every action we take, while our words are spells with the ability to conjure worlds, to create boundaries, to inspire movements and extinguish opposition (it’s why I have a sword tattooed on my arm – I’m often asked about it to which I respond: IYKYK!) Words can be dangerous – words can change the world, bring people together (or tear them apart), incite riots and give birth to beautiful stories which literally change the course of our lives. You’re on an important journey with the swords suit this year, Cancer – one which began with your solar return in late June or July of 2024. This month represents an important moment in that journey, a process where you’re learning to wield your metaphorical sword with more confidence, authority and self-respect. There’s a humility to this energy which it benefits you to tap into – The Page of Swords knows the blade they wield is big for them, that it feels foreign and awkward in their hands. They’re respectful of its power, and they’re on a journey of cultivating a more confident and familiar grip – but it will be a journey. You might make a mistake, mis-read someone’s intentions or speak out of turn this month – it’s all part of the learning process. March invites you to practice working with this suit for personal empowerment and upliftment — it may feel clumsy, awkward or imperfect, but don’t downplay the significance of these invitations (or underestimate how prepared you are to accept them!) Embodying this card could take many forms, and it will require boldness and bravery: It might mean self-advocating at work, starting a podcast, submitting an article for publishing, taking the leap into entrepreneurship or requesting commitment from someone you’ve been seeing for a while (or asking someone new out.) The Tarot doesn’t guarantee “favorable” outcomes – and every Page represents a new beginning with potential for both ups and downs — but this card indicates that there is a journey to be had, and you’re supported in taking your first steps this month. If you’ve been marinating on something – an idea, concept or inner urging – the timing is right, the terrain favorable. Perhaps more than any other sign, Cancers are acutely aware of their vulnerability – self-protective and introverted, being direct runs counterintuitive to every instinct we have. The Page of Swords teaches us to communicate our needs and self-advocate more assertively (while preserving our uniquely poetic nature and without leaving us feeling too exposed!) POS also marks an important moment in your journey toward mental wellness, reminding you that your mind isn’t a cage – it’s a key. Wherever you are in your relationship with the suit of Swords, March brings invitations to take an important first step -- toward befriending your brain (and all its tricky hardwire!), speaking your truth, acting upon an idea or saying yes to something new – even if that step feels a size too big. It isn’t, Cancer -- you’re ready, you’re supported, and it’s time!
Leo: // The Star
March is a season for healing, Leo. 2025 has already been deeply restorative for you, bringing unprecedented levels of sweetness into your world after an essentially challenging 2024 (but it has required you to make some tough choices.) In January, we pulled The Six of Swords for you, a departure from old cycles and a clearing away of old, outdated (and painful) perspectives. Last month, The Nine of Cups emerged as your archetype, an invitation to hope for something, to allow the joy of cautious optimism to fill your heart (even if things didn’t work out the way you hoped.) The Star breezes in this month bringing recalibration and rebirth: When this card arises, we’re being psychically supported and worked on by a team of unseen forces. Like a gentle rainfall after a storm, The Star cleanses, heals, integrates and repairs: The good news, Leo? This isn’t a provocative or challenging energy. It’s calm and soothing – more often than not, we don’t even notice The Star at work in our lives (only sensing afterwards that something has shifted, that conflict has smoothed over or simply lost its ability to wound us.) While The Star is traditionally associated with Aquarius, there’s something very Piscean to me about this soothing archetype. We’re in Pisces season right now, Leo, and it’s an enhanced Piscean vibe astrologically. Saturn, Neptune and The North Node are all in Pisces (with Neptune coasting through the anaretic degree until March 30th), the sun remains in Pisces till March 20th and by mid-month, Venus and Mercury are both back-tracking through Aries and heading for the sign of the fish (arriving there on the 27th and 29th respectively and immediately forming a conjunction to Neptune.) As the last sign of the zodiac, Pisces is all about healing, rebirth, rejuvenation and release: Those invitations are strong for you this month, Leo. While March features some tense astrology (including two planetary retrogrades, eclipse season and a major paradigm shift with Neptune changing signs), I don’t foresee these transitions challenging your nervous system. Instead, they’re helping you integrate past trauma and reclaim lost parts of yourself – if there are aspects of your spirit which have been broken, disavowed or fragmented, The Star conducts something of a psychic surgery this month, an energetic soul retrieval. She’s soothing and repairing any frays in your nervous system, any breakages or dysfunction in your energy field. It’s subtle and mysterious, and you don’t have to do anything to access this healing. It’s already happening, Leo; as you read this, you’re shifting, processing and up-leveling at the cellular level. If things feel weirdly calm this month, trust it: Healing and alchemy don’t always feel like a raging fire. By April, you’ll notice that something within you feels different: Like a zap of lightning, your perspective on something has changed, a core wound feels less sticky, or the emotional gravity of something becomes much less heavy. It’s a magickal month of healing, processing and reclamation: It may feel like nothing is happening but on the contrary, March will stand out as a pivotal month when you reflect back on 2025. The other thing about this card, Leo? You’re not returning to some proverbial state of childlike innocence or naivete: On the contrary, The Star helps us alchemize our wounds into knowledge, wisdom, transformation and deep peace. It doesn’t erase the trauma of the past: It integrates it, which is much more powerful. Embrace this energetic cleanse, Leo: By spring, you’ll notice a newfound ability to own yourself, to feel connected to yourself and at peace with who and what you are. It’s a beautiful, healing and transformative energy, and it’s already in your sphere. You need only say yes to its gentle influence!
Virgo: // The Lovers
2025 has you jumping all around the Major Arcana, Virgo! You’ve been in some deeply transformative cycles this year, and March continues that theme with The Lovers. It’s worth noting that you’re still hovering between lines 1 and 2 of the Majors: Last month, we pulled The Chariot for you (card 7.) In January, Strength came forward as your archetype (card 8.) It’s certainly no coincidence that March finds you in card 6! (BTW, these have all been different decks – so it’s not a problem of shuffling!) Don’t panic about the fact that the numbers seem to be moving “backwards”; recall that The Tarot is spiralic, a non-linear narrative where we can find ourselves “in” multiple plot-points at exactly the same time. None of these cards stay with us for merely one month’s time: You’re traversing Strength, The Chariot and The Lovers this March, and that’s quite a powerful combo. If you feel like this moment in your life is unprecedented – as though massive shifts are happening, and larger influences are in play – you’re exactly right. You’re evolving, Virgo – those of your sign are up-leveling massively in 2025. But let’s shift our focus back to The Lovers! Featuring a solitary mermaid awed by her reflection, I absolutely love this deck’s reimagining of Pamela Coleman Smith’s original artwork. While many assume this card foretells an impending crush scenario (and certainly, it can come up around that) this isn’t what The Lovers promise. As cliché as it sounds, this card symbolizes a re-partnering with the self – The Lovers confront us with our own beauty, our own spark of divinity. Typically when this card arises, there is some sort of outside catalyst: We fall in love with a human we’ve birthed, a sexy person with whom we have chemistry, or even a walk in nature which leaves us breathless at the beauty of the world around us. That’s actually you you’re witnessing in these moments, Virgo: It’s quite literally a mirror reflecting your magick back to you. This knowledge is tough to integrate: It’s so much easier to spot the divinity in a laughing baby, a beloved pet or an intricate flower than our own reflection. But March wants you to reject the instinct (which will be strong with Venus retrograde) to look outside of yourself for a lovely rush of endorphins. External approval feels great – who doesn’t revel in a compliment from their crush, recognition at work, or an affirmative slow-blink from a loving familiar!? – but when The Lovers arise, it’s a gentle indication that we’re leaning a bit too heavily on outside validation in lieu of cultivating self-connection. I know, Virgo: It’s the ultimate cliché, but attempts to seek approval outside of yourself this month (from a crush, a parent, a partner, your boss, or even a community you’d like to be a part of) will only lead to disappointment. Not because you won’t receive it – maybe you will, but only to find their acceptance depressingly anticlimactic. While this person/group may be lighting you up, they’re really just connecting you more deeply to yourself (or showing you qualities you’d like to cultivate) – in other words, it’s not really about them. Venus turns retrograde on March 1st and will conjunct Neptune at the anaretic degree of Pisces on March 27th (in the second of what will be three conjunctions, with the “finale” coming in May.) During this transit, we’re well-advised to be cautious with developing crushes or attractions, as it inclines us to place others on a pedestal, to project our own ideal scenario upon them (when really, we’re seeing a mirage – a distorted image of our own selves!) It’s no biggie if you find yourself immersed in a Neptunian love entanglement this month – in fact, we learn a lot from romances and crushes conceived during Venus retrograde. Just remain aware of the temptation to attribute too much magick to someone or something else (especially in lieu of celebrating your own!) Robert Anton Wilson said “The mind is a tool invented by the Universe to see itself” – you can find your reflection in a beautiful sunset, a splendid beach walk, an intoxicating romance or a delicious cup of coffee this month. Notice when something attracts, inspires or otherwise lights you up: But don’t attach yourself too much to the catalyst. March invites you to flirt with the world around you, to fall deeply in love with yourself and most importantly, to remember that you’re the one bringing the magick, Virgo — and it has been you all along!
Libra: // The Devil
Something’s bugging you this month, Libra — and whatever it is, you’re giving it way too much power over you. The Devil card is associated with addictive cycles or tendencies (including toxic relationships, substance abuse, and even the addictions we develop to patterns of suffering, martyrdom or entrapment.) It’s more accurate to say that the Devil’s domain is anything which keeps us cycling through shame, or promotes a fear within us that others would reject us if they knew a certain aspect of our nature. Typically when this card arises, it’s a gentle indication that we’re repressing something uncomfortable for us to face — an urge, a need, or an aspect of our nature we aren’t proud of — but in doing so, we’re actually allowing it to run the show. As witches, we know that we empower whatever we cast into the watery realm of the subconscious mind; our conscious will cannot compete with our more powerful underlying beliefs and drives (which can seriously f*ck with our ability to manifest.) If left unexamined and repressed, these shadowed fragments wreak havoc in our lives (compelling us to act out in ways we don’t like or understand — like binge-eating, gambling, cheating, drinking, people-pleasing, or engaging in whatever behaviors directly contradict our conscious goals and motivations.) Try softening into the belief this month that nothing about your nature is inherently good nor bad — it just is. The superpower of your sign is your ability to hold space for complexity and nuance, to zoom out and parse multiple perspectives at once; lean on that gift this month, Libra, applying this sensibility to the quirkiness of your own nature. Ironically, the act of assigning energetic charge to an emotion or impulse is what perpetuates the addictive cycles and behaviors we associate with this card— not the impulse or emotion itself. March’s eclipses and retrogrades are drawing your awareness to any subconscious habits, patterns or behaviors you’ve been chained to; with a little reflection, you can easily identify the sneaky beliefs which fuel them. If you’ve been trying to manifest a heart-centered relationship but keep finding yourself entangled in toxic dynamics, ask yourself: What unintegrated messiness draws you to those arrangements, Libra? Do you feel unworthy of the kind of love you want, or are you seeking to re-create a familiar dynamic in hopes of achieving a different outcome? Or maybe there’s a sneaky way in which you aren’t fully available? Identifying the “Devil” on your shoulder might require some deep introspection or even therapy -- our subconscious beliefs can rear their heads in very subtle ways — but once we name the demon, we’ve evicted them from the metaphorical basement of our subconscious mind. With awareness as our weapon, we’ve already taken some of our power back (remember when Nancy from A Nightmare on Elm Street pulls Freddy out of her dream, getting him on “neutral ground” and depleting his power!? That’s your assignment this month, Libra – to drag the unconscious into the conscious realm!) The second step to a successful exorcism is to let other people in -- opening up to a trusted loved one, community or therapist is surprisingly effective at banishing “demons”! By feeding on our primal fear that others won’t accept us as we are, shame thrives on keeping us alone (ever notice that all hell breaks loose in a horror movie when everybody separates!?) Even if you consider yourself solitary and independent, our human survival depends on acceptance by the pack; it’s our most primal fear that others would find us unacceptable and cast us out (no matter how unlikely we know this is!) When we immerse ourselves in a container of trust and belonging – aka, our most intimate friendships and support systems -- shame simply dissolves. As you move through the discomfort of The Devil, you’ll begin to integrate whatever shadowed aspects of your nature it’s illuminating, finding ways to love yourself exactly as you are (with all your nuance and complexity.) The Devil might seem like an enemy, but he’s actually a great teacher for you this month: Working with this archetype guides us toward deeper self-acceptance and integration, reminding us that the entirety of our being is worthy, deserving and loveable. By the end of the month, you’ll have shaken off your Devil and embodied your inner Nancy (or whichever 80s Final Girl you most admire!) Channel their courage and fearlessness this month, Libra: It’ll leave you much lighter (and more self-accepted) by spring!
Scorpio: // The Ten of Wands
You’ve reached the end of a journey this month, Scorpio. March invites you to make foundational changes; this month’s eclipses (on the 14th and 29th respectively) illuminate whether something has reached its natural culmination point (or if the way you’ve been engaging with that thing – a relationship, a job, or a creative endeavor -- needs to change.) You’re ready to shift something that’s become unsustainable: March will clarify what that needs to look like for you, Scorpio. Visually, The Ten of Wands depicts a figure struggling with a bundle of Ten of Wands; they need to either lighten their load, pause to redistribute some weight, or ask a nearby merperson for a hand! March is a bit of adjustment period, Scorpio: Ask yourself which of these actions might be needed. Is it time to let something go that’s simply too heavy? Sometimes when we pull this card, something which once gave us joy – a relationship, a creative pursuit, a business project or a home renovation – has started to become too much, leading to feelings of burnout, overwhelm and exhaustion. It’s also possible that you need to outsource this month, to ask for help and accept it when it’s offered (whether that means hiring a babysitter or asking your roommate to do the dishes!) Still there’s a third option, Scorpio: Maybe The Ten of Wands is encouraging you to shift some things around, to redistribute your priorities and adjust the way you’ve been showing up. If you have any known patterns around over-functioning and taking on too much, those may surface this month to be examined and alchemized. The primary message of this card is always about letting things be easy: How can you conjure more ease this month, Scorpio? Pisces Season (and water magick more generally) is all about joy, ease and flow: Pay attention to those life areas that feel exceptionally challenging this month, or which seem to require a great deal of struggle, effort, exertion and resistance. How can you introduce more playfulness into those life areas, or create space for more alignment and flow? If you can’t, Scorpio, it could be time to sever ties: If something has simply reached its fullness, you may need to leave a dead-end job, a high-maintenance friendship, or a romance which has simply run its course. This card requires us to make tough assessments and appraisals of where our life currently stands: Where are you feeling tired, Scorpio, and in what life areas are you left with a sense of depletion, burnout or dissatisfaction? These are all signs that something needs to give. You have empowered choice around shifting those energies, but the only thing that isn’t an option is continuing on as you have been. Doing so would only lead to a crash, Scorpio: It’s time to get serious about cultivating joyous sustainability and shifting any tendencies to be overly self-reliant. Typically when this card arises, support is available: You may not have a reliable co-parent to share the duties of motherhood, or the money to hire a house cleaner or assistant, but set the intention to spot help where it is being offered this month. Release any beliefs that reaching for it is weakness, or that you need to do everything alone (or should expect things to be hard.) Pisces Season wants you to remember that life can be exceptionally fun – our projects, relationships, and even our work week can fill us with joy, peace and contentment. Create space for rest and rejuvenation where possible this month, and allow March’s Eclipses to illuminate your path toward ease.
Sagittarius: // The Queen of Wands
You’re back in Queen of Wands, Sag! I’d say this is officially your card for 2025 – I pulled it for you in January of this year, and March cues a triumphant reclamation of your fiery throne and crown. While everyone rejoices in seeing this card, I especially love it for you: Sagittarians so beautifully embody the energizing warmth of this vibrant, sensual archetype already, so pulling it means you’re really in your essence this month. Something from January (which faded into the background of last month’s hustle and bustle) might resurface in March – a developing flirtation could come back into play, a creative idea resurges, or a sexual/artistic renaissance rapidly gains momentum. But it might not evoke anything specific: Sometimes this Queen arises because plain and simply, we’re feelin’ ourselves (and other people are feeling us, too!) The Queen of Wands is a confidence boost: When we’re moving through this energy, we’re deeply connected to our aliveness. Something is sparking you up – whether it’s the warming weather, a creative idea you can’t stop thinking about or an exciting new love connection, don’t forget to enjoy it! Pulling this card for you on repeat only amplifies the importance of that message, Sag. Sometimes, life requires us to be serious and reverential, to disconnect from our sensuality and playfulness for our own self-preservation. This isn’t one of those moments! If you’re wanting to do or try something which requires the confidence, energy and passion Queen of Wands represents, March is an excellent time; it’s a hot moment for you to get into a relationship, to start a business or artistic project, to curate a bumpin’ playlist or assemble a playful outfit you feel sexy and creative in. It’s not that insecurities simply melt away for you this month: It’s more accurate to say that you’re so busy feeling creative and vivacious that you simply forget to pay attention to them (and how hot is that!?) It won’t occur to you to doubt your abilities or play small this month – it hasn’t even crossed your mind that others may not like or approve of what you have to offer (and why would it? You’re having fun, which is truly all that matters when this card arises.) Release any assumptions about what embodying The Queen of Wands should look like — she is for all genders, ages, identities and ethnicities (and isn’t necessarily the wealthiest, most beautiful or best-dressed womxn in the room. She’s just the most alive!) This month is all about “trying on” this archetype energetically, personifying the current of warmth and sensuality which runs through us all. On March 11th, Venus Retrograde conjuncts Mercury in Aries -- on March 22nd, we have a Venus cazimi (i.e., a sun conjunction to Venus) in the early degrees of Aries just days into the season of the ram. These are your optimal dates for fiery creativity, self-connection, and (possibly) a romantic or sexual renaissance. Something is stirring within you this month, Sagittarius, and whatever it is, it’s sizzling hot with potential. Bask in the glow of this warming, validating archetype this month, remembering that the fire is coming from you (and you can conjure it at any time!)
Capricorn: // The Hanged One
Get comfortable with being uncomfortable this month, Capricorn; ironically, you can find deep peace in the moments where March holds you in a challenging position. The Hanged One arises when like the figure on this card, we’ve been flipped on our heads, our ankles tied to a tree (not literally of course — but that’s how this card can feel!) This inverted position allows us to parse new perspectives and achieve major realizations (especially around patience, transformation, right-timing, and evolution.) In order to tap these benefits, though, we cannot resist. The Hanged One requires us to be present with what is, to surrender to our conditions and accept that which we cannot control (embracing whatever position we find ourselves in.) Sometimes this card arises because we’ve knowingly accepted temporary discomfort for long-term growth or gains – like attending University, starting a business, working 50 + hours to hit your savings goals, or even literally exercising the body with physical training, yoga or running. More frequently, though, we find ourselves having been thrusted into this energy. However we got here, it’s a powerful invitation to surrender and breathe; if you say yes to it, Capricorn, March cracks you open for a fruitful and vibrant creation season come the warmer months. Explore whatever arises for you this month as a mini-initiation: The Hanged One is something of a gatekeeper, and we must traverse this energy before we unlock the “next levels” of our growth (moving us into Death, Temperance, The Devil and beyond.) The traditional planetary ruler of The Hanged One is Neptune, and the zodiac sign of Pisces – I’m sure you’ve heard me say (either in prior card interpretations or on the podcast) that we’re in a pronounced Pisces Season this year (with Saturn, Neptune and the North Node in Pisces, plus Mercury and Venus returning to the sign of the fish at the end of the month.) Neptune’s entrance into Aries on March 30th is a huge deal -- the watery planet hasn’t changed signs since 2011 and remains in Aries until 2038 (but will retrograde back to Pisces briefly from October to January of 2025.) The Hanged One is significant for you within the broader cycle of this transit, Capricorn, bringing an initiation or rebirth which prepares you for the next 14 years. Thankfully, tolerating the uncomfortable is your Saturnian superpower (resilient and self-made, Capricorns expect things to be challenging – you’re more comfortable withstanding harsh conditions than feeling like something came too easy!) I know you can handle your metaphorical suspension and inversion with grace, but it’s important that you stay perceptive this month, Cap. The Hanged One brings new awakenings, realizations and allows us to see things from new perspectives (by quite literally turning situations on their heads!) Even if you’re not big on journaling, make note of your observations this month (and pay attention to what comes up within your inner landscape.) March is a huge month for you, Capricorn; you’re growing, changing and evolving quite rapidly. Ironically, it may also feel as though nothing is happening. Embrace the stillness this month – if things are moving slower than you’d like, remember that we have two planets retrograde and use any delays to your advantage, applying the rule of re’s (reassessing, regrouping, recalibrating and reflecting.) March is a pivotal month for all of us collectively– it may look and feel like full-blown winter (especially as I’m typing this in late February), but spring is right around the corner. Hyacinths and Tulips will soon emerge, and though there’s hardly evidence this month, the Earth is warming – life is stirring beneath the snow-covered ground. The same is true for you, Cap! You’re on the precipice of a new and sunnier season, but whatever is here with you now is meant to be here (and it’s serving as something of a gatekeeper!) Let it crack you open and stretch you in ways you aren’t comfortable. Feeling awkward isn’t an omen that something is wrong this month – on the contrary, it’s totally in alignment (and it’s temporary!)
Aquarius: // The High Priestess
2025 is inviting us to cultivate our connection to The Divine Feminine, Aquarius: This began in January with The Empress, and now March finds us entering the witchy domain of The High Priestess. While very different, each of these cards channels mysterious pools of deep feminine wisdom (and when I say “feminine” I mean receptive, introspective and passive – not necessarily “female.”) The High Priestess is ruled by the moon, and anytime we pull this card, it’s especially important to pay attention to the lunar cycles (and whatever else the natural world is doing.) This month, we’re in Eclipse season – and it’s a particularly poignant one for Aquarians. The Lunar Eclipse on March 14th illuminates our eighth house of sex, death and transformation – on March 29th, The Solar Eclipse in Aries stimulates our third house of communication (coinciding with Mercury retrograde, it may cause messages to become lost in translation later in the month -- or information revealed around the 29th is not entirely accurate!) This Lunar Eclipse is also a powerful one, Aquarius, illuminating where we’ve become bored, restless or dissatisfied with something stagnant. It’s transformative and alchemical: This is also reflected in the month’s seasonal change on March 20th as we celebrate the official beginning of spring here in the Northern Hemisphere. In my corner of the world, spring is an unpredictable and abbreviated time of year – March feels more like a continuation of winter than the harbinger of a whole new season. But to the perceptive witch, subtle shifts are occurring: The birds are chattier in the mornings, the sun is brighter, and the days become ever-so-slightly warmer (though not necessarily consecutively.) While my white sneaks don’t relish mud season – which begins in late March and continues through mid-April -- it’s beautifully symbolic of the transformative invitation of this card. We’re in the “messy” stage of creativity: As you notice the dirty, melting snow and the muddy ground softening, take that as your reminder that it’s okay to be messy. Creativity isn’t linear: Just as winter doesn’t gradually give way to spring in a tidy and predictable way, the Aquarian journey is always more of a zig-zag than a straight line. Give yourself permission to go a little rogue this month, Aquarius (after all, unpredictability is inherent in our nature – we’re as “irregular” as our ruling planet’s orbit!) Another way to connect to The High Priestess this month, Aquarius, is to eat seasonally and locally to whatever degree possible, and of course to spend time outside (even if that means bundling up!) Lean into your connection with the natural world this month: Let it be your guide, and allow it’s cues to direct your daily flow. Give yourself permission to be less rigid and structured this month: Just focus on presence, cultivating your intuition and accessing your deep, juicy connection to self. If it feels like others don’t “get” you this month – even loved ones you normally always vibe with – try not to overthink it. We must traverse High Priestess energy alone – others aren’t necessarily meant to come with us on that journey. When others are absent this month – when they miss your call or cancel the coffee date (or simply aren’t able to understand or assist) this is by design. It’s very much in service of bringing you deeper in touch with yourself, Aquarius; as a highly independent being, you already know that your inner guidance is a really accurate compass (even if it points you in the opposite direction everyone else is moving in.) Follow that little arrow this month, minimizing outside noise or static (and knowing that circumstances will conspire to do this for you!) March is a rewilding, a reconnection to the divine feminine forces stirring within you. Embrace and have fun with them!
