Crystal Recommendations for Yule Seasonšš®
As November wraps up, itās beginning to look a lot like Yuletide ā and many of us have mixed feelings about this. Whether youāre actively jamminā out to Cherās āDJ Play a Christmas Songā and sipping spiked eggnog while reading this (in which case, I wouldnāt necessarily blame youš¶š¶) or youāre more of a lovable Grinch (or something in between), Iāve got a crystal recommendation for you! Read on to learn all about my go-to allies for this hectic time of year and why I love them (and you can purchase all of these through me directly ā pick your fav or buy them all. Iām offering the whole collection as my Yuletide Crystal Spell Pouch.)
āHot Chocolateā Bronzite ā
Just like a warm mug of cocoa, this iron-rich mineral is grounding, empowering and protective, stimulating the root chakra and conjuring deep feelings of safety and vitality through the long dark winter months ahead. It supports aligned, perceptive decision-making and facilitates loving community, taking us out of the confines of our prejudices while also teaching healthy boundaries and providing support as we discover and learn to enforce them. Bronzite anchors us into the deep self, helping us channel the courage to face our situations directly and release heavy emotions such as grief (along with old boyfriends, clothing thatās too tight, and whatever else no longer serves.) If a well-meaning relative pries about your dating life or an old connection surfaces at your covenās solstice gathering, count on Bronzite to defend and protect your energy, allowing you to stand firm in your boundaries and handle the situation with grace and kindness (queue George Michael!) š¶ For those who find the holidays to trigger grief or activate unresolved emotions, this comforting stone is deeply supportive, transmuting the heaviness and gently opening us to lifeās innate sweetness.
āFirst Snowā Scolecite ā
As the Winter Solstice approaches and the days become short and cold, it feels natural to wind down, rest up and to conserve our dwindling energy for the spring ā but with the shopping, baking and parties which come along with the December holidays, it can be difficult to find even a moment of peace and stillness within the noise, let alone achieve actual rest. Enter Scolecite! This snow-white mineral is part of the Zeolite family, a proud member of the synergy-12 and looks like a puffy gourmet marshmallow. Holding or carrying this stone brings deep peace and relaxation, enhances meditation and can even facilitate restful sleep and sweet dreams, helping us channel a moment of deep serenity in long lines or busy parking lots (although I wouldnāt recommend carrying this stone all the time, especially while navigating Mercury Retro/holiday traffic ā it can incline us to space out or spontaneously astral project unless paired with a grounding crystal, like Bronzite.) By gently opening the heart space, it awakens us to spontaneous expressions of love and connection and attracts these romantic moments to us ā keep one in your pocket, tuck one in your loverās stocking and meet them under the mistletoe!
āSilent Nightā Howlite š¤
The holidays can be really overstimulating and taxing on the nervous system which, for many of us, leads to difficulty sleeping. Work with calming Howlite to channel the seasonās restful vibes of rejuvenation and introspection. The best ally for combatting insomnia and promoting deep, restful sleep, this gentle talisman facilitates shutting off an overstimulated mind and preparing the nervous system for rest ā make it into an elixir (which you can sip before bed or brew into a cup of tea) or place a tumbled stone under the pillow with some dried lavender.
āSugar Plumā Amethyst š
A stone of wellness and peace, Amethyst has long been used by crystal healers to promote restful sleep and sweet dreams (and these specimens ā pictured below ā are chevron amethyst, meaning they contain bands of white quartz which amplifies their properties and makes them programmable to your specific Yuletide intentions.) Used by the ancients to prevent drunkenness, this purple stone is still a powerful talisman for protection against overindulgence (itās an old witchās trick to add a few drops of amethyst-infused water to your last cocktail of the night to prevent a hangover. If youāre hosting the covenās holiday party, serve Amethyst water between cocktails to prolong the merriment!) Protective and soothing, it casts a psychic shield over its beholder, allowing us to face holiday crowds and intrusive relatives with ease. If youāre setting a new yearās resolution, Amethyst supports breaking old habits and trimming back on excess (the Gregorian new year is a human construct but itās always good timing to kick an unwanted pattern ā plus, thereās something to be said for collectively-attributed meaning.) To dream of sugar plum faeries, warm snow and trees which smell of peppermint, leave one by the bed or tuck this purple beauty under your pillow.
āDeck the Hallsā Unakite šæ
Helping us channel total Martha Stewart/Queen of Pentacles vibes, Unakite is the hostess with the mostest. Place one on your abundance altar, or a bowl of them in your wealth corner, to ensure that your heart (and your pantry) remains full throughout the cold winter months ahead. This wise, supportive talisman gives strong divine feminine/ Mrs. Claus energy ā holding one feels like a tight hug from your fav Grandma and serves as a reminder to prioritize yourself this holiday season and beyond. As youāre assembling charcuterie boards and checking loved ones off your āniceā list, donāt forget to check in on yourself. How are you feeling? Do you need a glass of water? A nap? A piece of chocolate? Whatever it is, Unakite reminds you that you deserve it. Let your champagne flute runneth over!
āHearth and Homeā Carnelian š„
Carnelian, or fire agate, energetically mimics a flame ā if, like me, you lack an actual fireplace in your home to gather loved ones and burn the Yule log, place a tumbled carnelian in the social area of your living space to introduce the joyful, vibrant energy of the orange ray, attracting happy gatherings, deep belly laughs and lots of cozy, stimulating rapport to warm your insides. A root chakra stone, Carnelian also boosts the immune system amidst an influx of indoor holiday gatherings (and promotes vitality and physical energy, preventing sluggishness and fatigue as temperatures go down.) As this is the time of year where the winter blues kick in for many of us, mood-boosting Carnelian is a powerful mental health ally, keeping spirits bright through the dark days ahead.
Happy Yule!
